Many believe slavery ended in the 1800's. Unfortunately, the truth is that slavery is more wide-spread than ever. There are an estimated 27 million individuals enslaved in our world today. Slavery knows no gender, age, culture or religion. There are enslaved people in every nation on the planet, including the United States. The US State Department estimates that at least 17,500 people are trafficked against their will into the US every year. Human beings are being commodified.
What will we do about it? Change is possible and hope is alive.

Join us Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California as thousands gather from local universities, NGO's, government agencies, faith communities, artists and everyday people as one voice to bring awareness, create networks, and mobilize to end slavery. Freedom Day will be guided by collaborative conversations, learning forums, films, music, art and much more.
