Richer Than We Think...
I recently was told about this website http://www.globalrichlist.com/ and after going to the site I have been greatly convicted of the affluent lifestyle that I, a student making less than $3,000 a year, have been supporting. With my stated annual income I am ranked in the TOP 14.82% richest people in the world! Visit this site for yourself and see just how rich you really are! Is that next latte really worth the four bucks we are willing to fork over for it?
All you have to do is make a choice.
$8 could buy you 15 organic apples OR 25 fruit trees for farmers in Honduras to grow and sell fruit at their local market.
$30 could buy you an ER DVD Boxset OR a First Aid kit for a village in Haiti.
$73 could buy you a new mobile phone OR a new mobile health clinic to care for AIDS orphans in Uganda.
$2400 could buy you a second generation High Definition TV OR schooling for an entire generation of school children in an Angolan village.

Hey Matt! Beautifully written stuff here. I'm so encouraged to see you bring more light to all these issues for that desperately need some additional time under a magnifying glass--right next to our hearts.
Regarding this current post, one of the things we as consumers are so often quick to pursue is the lowest price of goods without a thought for from whom they were crafted. That is why when our family decided to pursue buying everything organic it wasn't necessarily for OUR health, but primarily for the health of those impoverished souls who are so tasked with the devastating exposure to pesticides while harvesting--the fact that the food is sometimes healthier is just an added blessing.
When looking at consumption this way, it can inform so many more of our decisions regarding a whole variety of products and services--such as apparel... Hence my following recommended video clip that I believe you will find quite harmonious on a number of different levels here:
"Rave reviews by al Jazeera AND the Jewish Advocate? Active support from the Israeli AND the Palestinian Foreign Ministry? See how one company is building on this one piece of common ground & how you can be a part of this experiment in entrepreneurial diplomacy. Make history today."
